Marc Maiorana learned blacksmithing from his father and earned a BFA in Metalsmithing from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. He was a resident artist at the Penland School of Craft and has taught workshops nationally including Haystack, Peters Valley, Penland, and Yestermorrow.  

His work has exhibited at the Museum of Design Atlanta, Metal Museum, and the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s Renwick Gallery, and has been featured in Audi, American Craft, Dwell, Food and Wine, Gourmet, Metalsmith, The Washington Post, and The New York Times.  Marc was awarded a Professional Fellowship from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and is in the permanent collection of The Asheville Art Museum, Peabody Essex Museum, Minneapolis Institute of Art, Metal Museum, and the Smithsonian American Art Museum. 

Marc’s commissions span private residences to the Smithsonian’s Renwick Gallery, and his production wares have been shipped to clients in 22 countries.  He has been a full time metalworker since 2002.
